Lohmann mounting tape DuploFlex FOL0.20 is a type of double-sided adhesive tape, which plays two main roles in flexographic printing: first, to secure the plate on the plate cylinder or its sleeve, preventing the plate from lifting or shifting during the printing process, ensuring the smooth progress of printing; second, by selecting the density of the foam core material of the tape, fine control of printing pressure is achieved to match the graphic design of the plate, enhancing the printing effect.”

Instruction for Use

For foam-type mounting tape, the mounting effect depends on each step in the mounting process. Correct use of the mounting tape can significantly improve the printing quality of flexography. Therefore, when using foam-type mounting tape, attention should be paid to the following key points.
(1) Temperature has a significant impact on the use of lohmann tape, so all operations with mounting tape should be carried out at room temperature to avoid affecting the bonding strength of the mounting tape due to temperature.
(2) Before mounting, the surface of the plate and plate cylinder (or mounting sleeve) should be kept clean. This is because dust, rust, ink, and other contaminants can damage the adhesive strength of the mounting tape, leading to poor adhesion of the plate and warping. When cleaning the plate and mounting sleeve, it is advisable to use high-concentration alcohol, as other chemical solvents may corrode the plate and mounting sleeve.
(3) When mounting, the area of the mounting tape should be larger than the area of the plate, that is, the edge of the mounting tape should be larger than the edge of the plate, which can greatly reduce the risk of warping.
(4) When mounting, the seams of the plate should be kept away from the seams of the mounting tape. If the seams of the plate align with the seams of the mounting tape, it can easily lead to poor adhesion at the seams, causing warping or even plate detachment.
(5) When sticking the lohmann tape on the surface of the plate cylinder or mounting sleeve, it is recommended to use a scraper instead of pressing with hands. This is because compared to manual operation, a scraper can apply greater pressure on the mounting tape, ensuring better adhesion to the surface of the plate cylinder or mounting sleeve and effectively preventing the formation of bubbles; when sticking the plate on the surface of the mounting tape, it is recommended to use a softer rubber roller instead of pressing with hands, in order to better fit the plate, expel air bubbles, and protect the fine dot surface of the plate.
(6) After mounting the plate, to prevent ink and solvents from coming into contact with the adhesive on the edges of the plate during printing and cleaning, affecting the adhesive strength of the mounting tape, it is recommended to apply a circle of edge-sealing tape around the plate. This can also prevent warping of the plate. For quality control, a thin edge-sealing tape is preferable.
(7) When demounting, it is recommended to slowly and steadily remove the plate at an angle less than 90° (the tangent angle between the plate and the surface of the plate cylinder or mounting sleeve). This can prevent wrinkling or cracking of the plate. The slower the demounting speed, the weaker the peeling strength of the plate from the mounting tape; conversely, the faster the demounting speed, the stronger the peeling strength. The method for demounting the mounting tape is similar to demounting.”
